Welcome to the Daytona Beach Swing Dance Society (DBSDS) Web site!

The Daytona Beach Swing Dance Society is a non-profit group dedicated to the revival of swing dancing in the Daytona Beach, FL area.    For almost one hundred years and several generations, Americans have danced swing.  Considered by many to be the only American born and bred social couples dance, swing dancing has united Americans through wars, depressions, good times and bad.  Surviving attempts at censure and attempts to make it illegal, one only need look at the Lindy Exchange Calendar to see the magic and resilience of swing dancing.  From High School dances to college campuses, from oldies celebrations to trendy big city "clubs," swing dancing rocks on!    Under the swing dance umbrella is included, but not limited to, Lindy Hop (Savoy-the original and still popular, Hollywood-cousin to West Coast), East Coast, West Coast, Jitterbug, Shag (St. Louis, Carolina, Collegiate), Balboa, Peabody, Cajun, Zydeco, and more.  OK, your saying, "Well, what exactly is swing dancing?"  See the history and swing dance links page in this site for more information.  Visit our calendar page for our dance schedule.
