Handicapping Defaults

The Handicapping Defaults Window is used to describe Track detail and handicapping options for the current race. Unless changed (which can be done at anytime), information will be used for all races.  This is the first screen you see when DogOne is activated.

Track Selection Modification

A combo box used for track selection. You may either select one of the 47 existing tracks or modify the name contained in the combo box.

Automated Input

A check box for processing a Racing Program saved from an Internet file. Checking this box launches the Race converter program for automated typing. Once the file is read in and the outputs files are assigned, you now have the option to process all races or one race at a time. All

A check box for processing all races in the current Racing Form, visible when Automated Input is activated. Un-checking the box will do automated input one race at a time.

Handicap Options

Consists of a drop down list box and 13 check boxes.

Number of Previous races

A drop down list box for selecting the number of previous races you wish to include with your handicapping selection. Number ranges from 1 to 8, default is 6.

Check Boxes

13 check boxes are provided for selecting the handicapping items you feel are important. To turn on or off a box, click the box to the right of the label

Bold items are default settings for DogOne.

Chart Pick- Tracks hire Handicappers to predict Races and are known by a variety of names. We use Chart Picks and Rail Bird. Normally the selections are located on the bottom of the racing form and consist of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd selections. 1 point is given (maximum of 2) to that post position when the Track Handicapper selects the greyhound.

Break  - The order in which the greyhound left his post. DogOne averages breaks for all greyhounds in the current races and awards points when they are above average.

1/8 Call - The order in which the greyhound was at the 1/8 call. DogOne averages the 1/8 call for all greyhounds in the current race and awards points when above average

Stretch - The position the greyhound was in the stretch. DogOne averages the stretch call for all greyhounds in the current race and awards points when above average.

Finish - The order in which the greyhound finish the race. DogOne averages finishes for all greyhounds in the current race and awards points when they are above average.

Close - The positions the greyhound advanced from Stretch to Finish. DogOne averages the close for all greyhounds in the current race and awards points when above average.

Win Place Show % - The above average percent of total races entered to wins, places, and shows. DogOne averages Win, Place, and Shows for all greyhounds in the current race and awards points when they are above average.

Average Time - The sum of all finish times for all greyhounds in the race divided by number of previous races. DogOne averages the times for all greyhounds in the current race and awards points when above average.

Difference in Time- An established ratio between Finish time and competition time. The ratios are averaged and points are awarded when the greyhound is above average.

Projected Time - Measures the speed a greyhound must run in order to be competitive from his current post assignment. Greyhounds earn points when above average in projected time.

Time in Grade - The Fastest greyhound in current class, and the fastest greyhound last time out regardless of class. 2 points are awarded for fastest greyhound in current class. 1 point for fastest last time out.

Down in Grade - Greyhound moving from higher Grade race to lower Grade race. 1 point is awarded for each drop in grade.

Class by Finish - Is a ratio of class to finish position. Points are awarded when a greyhound is above average in class by finish.
