Titusville, Florida
Florida's Miracle City
Titusville, Florida is situated on the west side of the broad reaches of the
Indian River, near its northern end, approximately 20 miles north-west of Cape
Canaveral. US-1 runs through the main part of town, and is ideal for cruising.
Titusville boasts two malls, North Brevard's finest, Searstown Mall and
Miracle City Mall, which you will find on the west side of US-1, along with
several first-class eating establishments. To the east of the highway are the
beautiful banks of the Indian River, which isn't really a river, but it doesn't
matter. Near where US-1 meets the causeway are the shops of Downtown Titusville and
several historic buildings. The causeway itself is a popular windsurfing spot,
and east from here along SR-402, in the Kennedy Space Center, will take you to
the National Wildlife Refuge and the beaches. If driving from Orlando, SR-50
(Cheney Hwy) is another place to sight-see or cruise. After passing the hectic
I-95 interchange, the first thing you'll see is the incredible Wal-Mart
Supercenter to the south. Don't just take pictures, stop by for a visit!
You won't find a larger parking lot in the entire city, and inside are my
estimation of 20% of Titusville's residents and 50% of the work force. Inside,
you will find a Disney-like atmosphere and a wide array of shops and attractions.
Visit the video store, eat a hamburger at McDonald's, or just hang out!
Continuing east, SR-50 runs through the residential areas and suburbs, to
US-1, or this can all be by-passed by taking the Beltway (SR-405)
straight to Downtown.
Nightlife:
Titusville comes alive at night. As the sun sets behind the pines and
palmettoes, the moonlight dances across the waters of the Indian River and
Titusville basks in the exciting neon glow and glitter of US-1. Thursday
night means Ladies' Night at The Padded Cell (formerly TJ's) so grab a hat,
some fancy boots and get ready to dosie-doe 'till dawn at this chic, trendy
club. Another trendy spot is the Miracle City Mall parking lot after 10. This
is the home of Titusville's famous custom truck scene, where you may glimpse
Titusville's finest in lowrider mini-trucks and monster trucks alike. After
that, head on over to the waterfront and it's drinking and hanging out until
morning.
