Note: Randolph Hernandez served in Co. K, 1st Florida Infantry during the Civil War. He was enlisted by Capt. A. H. Bright in Pensacola, FL on May 31, 1861 for a 12 month tour of duty. He began his service as a 3rd Sergeant.

His unit fought in the Battle of Shiloh Apr. 6-7, 1862, the assault and capture of Missionary Ridge, TN, was involved in the Atlanta Campaign, May 1-Sept. 8, 1864, and many other smaller battles and skirmishes. He stayed on after his tour was up, was ultimately promoted to 2nd Leiut. and on April 26, 1865, near High Point, NC, General Joseph E. Johnston, Commanding the Confederate Army surrendered to Major General W. T Sherman commanding the United States Army in North Carolina.

Randolph was listed on a Muster Roll of Confederate Soldiers on April 28, and on May 1, at Greensboro, NC, he was paroled to return to his home.
