Note: On Nov. 12, 1892, Governor J.M. Stone granted a charter incorporating the Male and Female Institute of the Ecru School to S.F. Holdritch, James E. Browning, N.M. Berry, N.W. Andrews, Dr. J.M. Bradford, M.L Mounce, W.H. Huey, V.B. Tucker, W.M. Berry W.H. Winders, Mrs. H.W. Pitts, and J.H. Hattox. This school was located on property belonging to Mrs. H.W.
