Leroy Erzinger was born in West Plains, Mo., the eldest of seven children. His main job on the dairy farm where he grew up was to milk cows. He had no real exposure to church until he was about nine years old, when he began to attend the Baptist Church, and was baptized when he was 10. This and his membership in the 4-H Club, which he joined when he was eight, were his beginnings. He received his 4-H Pin when he was only 10; something rare even back then. In 1955 Leroy saw the movie “A Man Called Peter” which touched him deeply. Until that time he had never thought about becoming a minister, and had planned to attend college to become a veterinarian. During a Baptist Church revival meeting, Leroy again felt the Lord was calling him to become a minister. Therefore, Leroy attended the Southwest Baptist College in Boliver, Mo. for two years, which is where he met Evalena. Upon graduation in 1957 they were married. They attended and graduated from Grand Canyon College in Phoenix, Az. While there, Leroy pastored a Baptist Mission in Aguila. When he graduated from Grand Canyon College he continued his studies at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and graduated in 1967. He pastored for about 10 years, in the Midwest, at Blair, Ks., McGirk, Mo and Stover, Mo. when the charismatic movement began to cause controversy in the church, and Leroy resigned as a Baptist minister at that time. Leroy then went to work for a building contractor in Warrensburg, Mo. for a year and then joined his brother for a year in the glass business. Then he moved to Florida, and continued in the construction industry. In 1975 he formed Erzinger Construction, and over the last 26 years has successfully completed over 2000 jobs. Please see the page on Company Experience for more details. Today, Leroy manages a full construction schedule and still makes time to lead the church Senior Adult Ministry, a church Cell Group, participate in the Pressing Onward Ministry and many other church and family projects. Leroy and Evalena have two grown children and one grandchild. |
