There is a
picture in the book Singer in World War II, 1939-1945, of women sewing at six model 7-31
machihnes; the caption reads:
"Another section of an Army Salvage Depot where squad tents and other
large canvas items are repaired. Top view shows overall size of a large, table-high
platform built to hold them while being stitched. Lower view illustrates how operator
using a heavy Singer Machine requires assistance from man standing, who moves the tents as
they are being mended."
