AF and AG Serial Number Survey Results

Currently, there are a total of 9,500 machines reported:

5,198 AF machines -

4,078 Featherweight 221's of which 60 are crinkle machines; 1 of which may be a blackside machine

4,302 AG machines -

3,050 Featherweight 221's of which 172 (arguably 173) are blackside machines

Using survey data on serial numbers and Singer's information on production runs, the total production of Featherweight 221's for AF serial numbers (June 6, 1938 through July 1, 1941) is estimated between 350,000 and 450,000. The total production of Featherweight 221's for AG serial numbers (July 1, 1941 through April 4, 1947) is estimated between 400,000 and 500,000.
