Hello,
and welcome to the Equestrian Society! We're back after a bit of
a break to regroup and collect some new ideas. Feel free to kick
your
boots off, pull up a hay bale, and take a look around. We hope
you like what you see!
So, what is this place, you ask? Well,
I'll tell you. This is currently the only virtual horse industry
playground on the net. You may have heard of, seen, or even
played in virtual horse sim games before, and in which case, you
probably have a fairly good idea of what goes on here. However,
there is one huge difference between the Equestrian Society and the
other sim games that are out there. While other sim games focus
on the ownership -- the buying, the selling, the breeding, the showing
-- of their horses, the Equestrian Society takes a much more personal
stance on things, choosing instead to focus on the people who make up
the horse industry. Here, you'll find the individual stories of a
variety of horsemen and horsewomen, from big name trainers to young
children who are just learning how to ride. All of these tiny
parts are woven together to create the large and complex storyline of
the Equestrian Society.
Okay, you say, that sounds pretty neat, but how does
it work? Well, let me take you behind the scenes a bit. The
Equestrian Society is made up of players like myself, my fellow
administrators, and other members of this game. However, if you
go to your left and click on the gameplay link, you'll be transported
to a look at actual gameplay. The people that you'll see there,
with exception to the administrator profiles, are all characters.
Yes, completely fictitious, made-up characters. The characters
run rampant in gameplay, riding and showing their horses, visiting tack
and feed shops, interacting with each other, and the list goes
on...
So, where do the players actually come into
this, you ask? Well, us players are the brains behind the whole operation. As a player
of Equestrian Society, you have the option of either bringing a
character of your own into the game or adopting a preexisting character
from gameplay. Your character will, from there, be able to own,
show, ride, breed, buy, and sell horses in accordance to the rules,
while you, the player, push and prod your character into a variety of
different situations with their horses and with other characters.
Some players are the brains behind many, many characters, and as time
goes by and you get the hang of things, you will be able to pick up
more characters as well, and the cycle continues...
Well, you say, this place sounds really,
really cool, but I'd like to find out more before I decide to
join... That's what us administrators are here for. We've
compiled a complete guide to get you up to date on things and walk you
through the joining process. You should start by reading both the
FAQ
and the Rules
& Guidelines pages. If you have any further
questions about gameplay and what is expected of you as a member of the
Equestrian Society, feel free to email me here. Once you're ready
to join, we suggest you go the Before You Join
page, which really will
walk you through the process of getting your character filled out and
deciding on what you need to do to be happy with this character.
Once there, go ahead and join up!
However, if you're still a little confused, you
don't really know if this is the place for you, or even if you're
planning on joining immediately anyway, we highly suggest that you go
over to the gameplay forums and take a look at what is going on.
You can click on random threads in the gameplay area to read some
interesting short exerpts, or you can select any of the characters on
the Character
Bio board and follow their detailed story from start to
present by scrolling down to the bottom of their bio to the section
entitled "Plot Info" and clicking on the links in the designated
order.
Well, I hope that you've enjoyed your stay
here with us. I hope to hear from you very soon!
