Is Chocolate In Danger of Becoming Extinct???
Read on for the answer to that disturbing question!

NEWS FLASH:
"Chocolate's Lure Creates Shortages Around the World"

That is the headline that greeted me from the pages of our local Florida Today newspaper one day. Needless to say I was shocked ..... no, I was horrified! According to the article, the tropical cacao trees which produce the chocolate-making bean were in trouble and I wanted to hop the next flight to the tropics to ensure that the rainforest would survive! By following the links below, you too can learn all about chocolate and the cacao trees and hopefully be inspired to join me in my quest to:

"Save The Chocolate"

To begin my quest, I'm going to write to congress, the governor, the M&M candy characters, anyone who will listen! We must save the rainforests for the sake of that lovely brown candy!!

To keep the demand for chocolate high, send someone a monthly gift of "Heavenly Chocolate" from the Clubs of America chocolate club. Or, for the diet conscious, send a gift of Virtual Chocolate - chocolate without calories! As a bonus, they can find great chocolate wallpaper on that same site but, please warn them, if they put the wallpaper on their desktop, they might be tempted to lick their screen!

Even kids can get involved to prevent a shortage of chocolate in their lifetimes. They can visit the Evergreen Project and browse through all the rainforest subjects. Next show them the Fun Stuff on the Hershey's website, where kids can play games and have a great time. Education is power, and we need the power of all generations to ensure chocolate will always be available to chocoholics everywhere.

I personally love Ethel M dark chocolates the best. My first taste of Ethel M candy was during my wedding trip to Las Vegas where this factory is based. Those dark chocolate covered macadamia nuts will melt in your mouth not in your hand, appropriate since this company is associated with M&M/Mars. I've registered my chocolate addictions with the ACME Chocolate Registry. I've bookmarked it too, just in case my husband wants to find the perfect gift for me, I can steer him there!

During my research on this subject, I learned that "chocolate contains more than 300 identified chemical substances -- its flavor is so complex that efforts to synthesize the sweet taste in the test tube have failed". We can't duplicate this wonderful treat if we tried. All the more reason to:

"Save the Chocolate"

UPDATE: A friend told me that a recent radio news broadcast claimed the cacao tree problems are now under control and no shortage of chocolate will occur. I'm not sure I believe that and the risk of it being false is too great, so I'll continue my quest to:

"Save the Chocolate"

Chocolate should never be allowed to become extinct

Come back soon, I'm doing more research into this tragic
situation and will give you more information as I get it :->

one of the pieces."
