I encourage fellow students to get involved in our forums to debate issues in the news or to bring up an issue they feel important.  If you feel there is an issue I have overlooked or you feel is important, just contact me on the site and I will put it up the next day.

Lastly, I have a dedicated Podcast section which features interesting Podcasts from various news organizations and even from myself and others.

BBC  - Australia PM slams US candidate

Australian PM John Howard has criticised US presidential hopeful Barack Obama for saying US troops should withdraw from Iraq next year.

His comments came soon after Mr Obama officially announced he would seek the Democratic Presidential nomination.

My Opinion

I found this article to be very interesting in the fact that it shows that there is still support for the failed Iraq policy taken on by president bush. Mr. Howard's comments in my opinion crossed the line in the fact that he is sending signals on how American policy should be taken while he should focus on his own countries policies first and foremost. He claims that terrorists will be praying day in and day out for a Democratic victory in the next Presidential elections and this I think is just as mindless as some rhetoric that comes from the current administration.

Senator Obama did not appear to be down after these comments as he himself fired back at the Australian Prime Minister after his comments. Obama pointed out that although Mr. Howard supported the war all the way he has only sent 1400 troops to fight in Iraq while 150,000 American soldiers have been sent.  I agree with Mr. Obama on this one if you support the war to the fullest then you should take over in Iraq.
