Art can sometimes be presented to us in the
strangest places. This week's photo is of an old Texas porch with a modern day
patching compound applied. The repair work was being done at the childhood home of
President Lyndon B. Johnson.Although the image is from the good ole
Lone Star state, the colors are distinctly Floridian with the bright pink fill contrasting
with the peeling teal paint. I was drawn to the color and geometrics of the image.
I also liked the concentric circle stamps left behind by some dirty work shoes.
I am sure the tour guide at the time was a bit flustered with me as I dragged
behind the group to take some pictures of the porch in mid-repair. Later, she
snapped at me as I lagged to take more photos of an old fence making sure I realized that
the bus would not wait. Photographers and guided tours do not mix.
