Introduction
I've finally gotten around to working on the unfinished story again. For some reason, the little pieces weren't coming together. Not that writing the pieces here in this archive was terribly easy for me. At nearly twelve thousand words, it's the longest continuous story I've ever written and I posted it over nearly a year. I got the idea to put the stories up as an archive when I started re-reading them with a view to writing some sort of summary, a last week on the story sort of thing.
So, I gathered them all into one file and printed them out in ten point text so I could read through them off line and make notes in the margins. I do most of my composing on scraps on paper, scribbling madly and then typing them up before I forget what I wrote since my handwriting is so awful. At least when I'm writing just for myself. Sometime later that day, I was reading a post on Mezzoblue about an interesting solution to a layout problem. How to have a liquid main column layout but a fixed width sidebar while keeping everything in the right place when the page is resized. More importantly, it needed to be done in pure CSS. I read through the responses and saw someone's solution, so I started playing with it a little. That layout became the basis of the layout for the archive.
Eventually, I'll rummage back through all my notes so I can give proper credit to the person who gave me the idea to use really big negative margins.
Thanks
I'd like to thank everyone who I've pestered for their constructive criticism over the years. Not just for feedback on the layout of this site, but for feedback on the stories as I wrote them and they originally appeared.
So, in no particular order, thanks to Dylan, Edie, Thena, Gillian, Geoffrey, Josh and Rich. Most of the praise and none of the blame.
I'd also like to thank everyone who bothered to read these the first time or is bothering to read them now.
