In May 2005,Apopka got a new store called Material Girl Quilt Shop. The owner started a Block of The Month club. For a small starting fee ($7.50 US), I was given the instructions and material to create a 12"x12" quilt block. Once finished, I can bring in my completed quilt block to show that it is finished, and then receive a new kit at no charge. Each kit is progressively harder. After a year I should have enough blocks to make a sampler quilt. It is the shop owner's plan that club members will purchase batting, backing, and trim material from her store to complete the quilt.
