PATHWAY TO FREEDOM

Started February 2006, completed June 2006

This quilt was machine quilted with a star pattern by a professional using a computerized pattern with long-arm quilting machine.
The professional quilter machine-sewed the front of the binding on, leaving the back to be hand-stitched with a hidden stitch, by me.

I took a 2-part class for Yellow Brick Road at my local quilt shop. During the first 5-hour class in January, we all cut out and sewed blocks. At the next class, we connected the blocks to make the quilt top. The quilt top sat until I could finish some gift quilts and then I finally decided on and attached the last part, the borders.

The back of the quilt is unbleached muslin, one huge piece. The batting is Warm & Natural 100% Cotton, which makes a heavy quilt. The finished quilt size is about 80" X 86".

This quilt is in our Beech Mountain, North Carolina basement guest bedroom loft, where we have a new full-sized bed.
I plan to make pillow cases in complimentary blue and gold material with a strip of americana material between the two.

A special thank you goes out to my friend Pat for gifting me with that big box full of patriotic material!
