I turn bowls, platters, vases, mirror frames, boxes and other miscellaneous items. I do some metal spinning. I turn replacement parts for chairs and other furniture. I teach bowl turning and give demonstrations on carving bowls, coloring and finishing.

I am a woodturner. Everything starts as a turned piece of wood done on a wood lathe. I incorporate carvings on my turned pieces. I usually carve natural things such as flowers, leaves, shells and butterflies. I also do antique style carvings of an architectural nature. I enjoy rough turning a piece of wood and then looking at it to see the best way of  bringing out the character displayed by the grain, color and texture of the wood. Sometimes a defect in a piece of wood determines the direction of the art work, such as a natural crack in the wood that looks like a sea gull or a natural stain that causes the wood to look like marble when bleached. I usually work with wood that would end up in a land fill and turn it into a piece that is pleasing to the eye and silky to the touch.
