Process
You will pick a piece of paper out of a can. On that paper is written the number of your group, and the role you will adopt. You may find yourself taking a position you don't personally agree with. That’s great!! You’ll learn much more than if you research and argue an opinion you already have!
You will need to:
Research your role: how do your actions affect the river? Include plants and animals.
Determine how your actions coincide or conflict with the other roles.
Create a graphic organizer showing ways your actions affect the estuary (positive or negative).
Come up with some ways you can help improve the quality of the estuary, including both plant and animal life.
Meet with your team to share what you've learned, and hear what the others have learned.
Your team will need to:
Discuss the impact of each person's activities on the Indian River Lagoon estuary.
Work together to come up with a solution that will allow each person to continue his pursuits with the least harmful effects on the waterway.
Design a brochure, pamphlet, mural or poster that clearly shows how all the people in your group can work together to restore the Indian River Lagoon estuary.
Present your project to the class.
Use these links to research your role.
