The Task
|
Each team has approximately 30 days to come up with a workable solution to the problems associated with the Indian River Lagoon estuary.
A team will consist of four different characters: a commercial fisherman, a recreational sportsman, a marine biologist (water animals) and a marine botanist (water plants). The job of each team member is to research his role and determine how that role impacts the waterway, whether positive and/or negative. Using that information, each member must come up with ideas on how he can do his part to improve the quality of the estuary.
Once everyone has gathered enough information, each member will share his findings with the team. After all team members have presented their information, the team must work together to devise a way for all groups to use the waterway in a way that will least negatively impact the estuary. Everyone must work hard to come up with a solution that will be acceptable to the EPA so they will not permanently close off access to the estuary.
Each team's plan will be demonstrated in the form of a poster, mural, pamphlet or brochure.
