Sr. Commander's Corner

Sr. Commander Dennis E. Helms

Praise God! Welcome to Outpost 110's Web page. I hope that the things you see here are to your liking and most important, to God's liking. Thank you for taking the time to visit us. If there is any way that we might be of some assistance please let us know.

I'm sort of new at this web-page stuff, so if any of you vets could offer a hand on how to make our site better, please feel free to sign our guestbook, just click on the intro page and leave us a message.

I'd like to take a moment of your time to tell you a little about myself. Not to brag, but to give glory to our Lord. When my son was just a wee lad, we were looking for something, anything that we as father and son could do together. We tried the Indian Guide thing, the Boy Scouts and others. Why I even coached a city league football team, which my son played on. Nothing gave us, or should I say me the inner satisfaction that I was searching for.

Then one day my son came home from church all excited about this Ranger group. He couldn't stop talking about it. So the next week I decided to check it out. I liked what I saw and I liked who I met. All the boys (about 30 ) were in one room and you'd expect to see them all messing around and just being boys. Well sir, I'm hear to tell you they all were in their chairs and listening with complete attention to a white-haired man talking about some upcoming event called POW-WOW. I sat there and I listened and my interest started to get peaked also. After the meeting my son brought this guy up to me and introduced him as CQ. A sort of had a puzzled look on my face and he laughed and said the boys called him that, short for Cmdr Queen.

Well I guess the rest is history, I was hooked and here it is over twenty years later and I'm still hooked and hooked good. Royal Rangers is the third greatest thing that has ever happened to me. First was coming to the Lord, (by way of Rangers of course) and second meeting and marrying my beautiful wife Margaret. We've been together over twenty-eight years now

I currently serve as Sectional FCF rep for Section 5 here in Central Florida. Along with perpetuating FCF, I have possession of a 22' diameter tipi. It was purchased so that anyone in the section that did not have a place to stay at an FCF event could find a warm and welcome place to lay their head at night. Since 1993 when we purchased the lodge, it has housed well over 100 FCF members all over the southern United States. It's always the center of attention because it's usually the largest lodge at any gathering of FCFers. Not that I'm a small person don't you know! During ny tenure as FCF rep, I have been asked to provide others with lodge poles, some big and some not so big. So it was only natural that I expand to a business called "Gator-Poles", if you are in need of lodge poles please feel free to explore my Gator-Poles web page Click here for Gator-Poles.

During my tenure as Sr. Commander of Outpost 110, I have been privileged to come in contact with many many young men, who have gone on to accomplish great things in their lives. Some of my former Rangers are now Commanders themselves. One is a State Trooper, while another stayed in the area and got into local law enforcement. It makes a Commander proud to see his guys make good. They are all like sons to me. Even my own son is working with a very pretegious firm in southern Florida. Why he's starting his own outpost right at home, and that would be my twin grandson's Jesse and Jeremy.

Thank you for spending a few moments with Outpost 110, I pray that you will prosper in the Lord and ask the Lord's blessing on you and yours. Please pray for us also.

Yours in His Service

Dennis E. Helms Sr.
