Computer Generated Art

Repeatedly processing the same equation using the output of one iteration as input to the next can create some enormously intricate images. Computer programs are available that will aid the artist in his or her quest for "that special image". Finding it and then naming it are the challenges facing the "Fractal Artist". We present here some of our images with a bit of background about them.

Each one of our fractal images can evoke a personal response. I have attempted to name them if only to keep them straight. Your response may be totally different in feeling from mine. This is what makes these so much fun.

"Big Bang" or "Parting of the Red Sea"
For instance, the image we call “Parting of the Red Sea” started out as “Big Bang”. While our art work was on display at the local library, I overheard one person remark “Oh, that looks like the parting of the Red Sea!” I decided that was a much better description than mine so I changed the name.
With an interest in genealogy, I had a DNA test for a matrilineal link. After reading "The Seven Daughters of Eve" by Byron Sykes I found I had descended from the "daughter" he called "Helena". I really think of the fractal I called "Ancient Woman" as my long lost ancestor and she seems happy that I found her.
"Garden Whimsey” looks to me like an imaginary something you might see while weeding the garden “Wonderland” reminds me of the toadstools in Alice in Wonderland. My newest favorite is “Tropic Isle”. It reminds me of growing up in Aruba and before I know it I am humming “Red Sails In the Sunset”.

says that more people are getting hooked on fractals.
