| Hayabusa Performance |
Suzuki's amazing Gsx1300r hayabusa is regarded as the king of speed, the fastest production bike ever made.
With speed restrictions in effect starting with all 2001 model bikes, limiting top speed to 186mph,
it's likely that the 1999/2000 Hayabusa will remain at the top for some time.
When Motor Cycle News tested the bike it reached 193mph at Bruntingthorpe in England and 194mph at the Nardo test bowl in Italy.
A Spanish mag has clocked it at 195mph. In 1999 Cycleworld reached 194mph. Some other mags tested between 186mph and 191mph.
The Australian Motor Magazine (November 1999) has done some interesting Speed and Performance comparisons.

*I presume this hp number must include the effect of ram air (SRAD) at high speeds,
as it is generally accepted that the average stock Hayabusa produces ~156hp (rear wheel) on the dyno.
The Hayabusa requires about 175rwhp (as measured on a dyno) to achieve 200mph.
Top Speed In Gears:
(stock gearing)
| 1st | 80.2 mph |
| 2nd | 108.2 mph |
| 3rd | 137.4 mph |
| 4th | 163.2 mph |
| 5th | 184.6 mph |
| 6th | 201.0 mph |

In stock form, my Hayabusa started out a little low on Hp compared to the average.
With slip-on
exhaust cans, and some tuning, it made only 152.6 rwhp!
Well, not for long!
Installed Yoshimura tri-oval duplex exhaust, Power commander II, Modified the air box,
and had tuning done on a dyno with a/f meter. I gained 12.7 rwhp with these changes, not too bad!
I had the Yoshimura stage one cams installed as set by Yoshimura, with a gain, after map adjustments,
of 5 rwhp. These cams were expected to make an 8 to 10 hp gain, unless they were installed with no
degreeing, as was done in my case. So, next will be degreeing these cams to try to gain a further 5 hp,
but 170.4 rwhp
ain't bad for now
