Banjo Players and Friends --
Page 2
Dr.
Ralph Stanley leaving the stage at the Yeehaw Junction festival.
Ralph is carrying with him one of the fancy Stanleytone
banjos
made up for him by Frank Neat. The
Clinch Mountain Boys sounded good that day.
Another banjo playing Osborne -- Bobby with is mandolin
At first I didn't include a picture of Bobby
on
this page because the title is "Banjo Players and Friends". But Bobby
did play the banjo and he is a friend. Here he is in a fairly relaxed
mood playing the Fern.
UncleJosh
and
Earl
This is a fairly recent picture of Josh and Earl.
About the time that this picture was taken, Josh leaned over to Earl and
asked, "How did we ever play is so fast back then?"
A very distinguished group.

Standing (from left to right); Bobby
Osborne, Earl Scruggs, Sonny Osborne. Kneeling
in front; Jason Carter
and John Hartford.
Peghead
(aka
Ron Satterfield) with his toys.
Ron has been a good friend of mine for 2, or 3 years.
He has a few banjos. From left to right, at Ron's feet, are; a '35
TB-3 conversion (no. 9488-32), a '29 Granada
tenor conversion (no. 9261-26) with Frank Neat Neck, a mid-30's TB-11
conversion,
a '35 TB-1 conversion (no. 9464-61) with a
1955 RB-1, Bowtie neck and lastly Hunter, a
fine golden Lab. Both the TB-3 and the Granada have McPeake-Hopkins
conversion
rings.
Ron
actually playing one of the dammed things.
