Doc was given to us by our friend who owns
"Chief's Bird Cabin" in Orlando, Florida. He was not one
of the store birds, Doc was one of her home birds. Due to an occurrence at her
house, Doc had become
very afraid of hands.
My wife and I happened to stop in her store one weekend, and made a comment on how
pretty he was.
Well to make a long story short, she gave us Doc along with his cage and toys. She
told us that she knew
we would put forth the time and effort to "cure" him of behavior.
We've never had Doc sexed, he's(?) a pet and we never plan on breeding him.
Doc's pleasures in life are simple : toys he can
destroy, showers (he gets mad if he sees someone with wet
hair and he didn't get a shower) and food. When we got Doc, he was on a seed diet
and, according to our
vet, was fat. His weight is now under control after converting him to pellets.
Doc and Ernie, our two year old Quaker, are the best of pals.
