Throughout Ultraman's 30 years, there has been tons of Ultraman merchandise, ranging from the popular BanDai vinyl figure line of the Ultra-heroes and their greatest monster enemies to American figures to T-shirts, watches, and hats, to videos. Unfortunately, these have become very difficult to obtain here in the USA. Several stores in Japanese districts of major metropolitan areas have stopped carrying Ultraman merchandise. Mail order sources have dried up.
As I find out sources of videos, laserdiscs, and other merchandise, I will include them here.
Please note that the following tidbits do NOT necessarily mean that I personally recommend dealing with these companies. Where I have experience, I'll share that. Otherwise, I just pass on what I've been told.
T-Line Design sells licensed Ultraman T-shirts. Check them out at their Web page.
You might also want to check out the Web page for First State Comics.
Expressions in Animation, in Dayton, OH, has made arrangements to release the first four Ultraman episodes on video. Contact Rick Martin for more information. Please note that Mr. William Ferguson is no longer associated with the company! You can also check out EIA's web page.
The Right Stuf, International, sells Ultraman: The Adventure Begins and the Expressions in Animation collection mentioned above.
Club Daikaiju sells the entire Ultra-hero series of vinyl Ultraman figures from BanDai Japan, as well as other merchandise hard to find in the US. They do not sell bootleg or off-the-air videos, however; please don't bother asking. (They do sell licensed videos, though; see their online catalog for details.)
Another source of Ultraman toys is Toy Japan. They seem to have a few other things Club Daikaiju doesn't, but their selection overall isn't as good (in my opinion).
KAIJU-FAN, published by Daikaiju Enterprises and Productions (no relation to Club Daikaiju above), 890 East 14th Street, Suite 4B, Brooklyn, NY 11230, 718-253-8649, is recommended by one Email correspondent as a good source of Ultraman info.
Troll & Toad video carries a line of "original Sentai videos." They can be
reached at:
SHADO Control carries numerous Ultraman episodes and other not-commercially-available videos.
HENSHIN VIDEOS carries numerous Tokusatsu videos.
Michael Watters has started a Kaiju tape trading mailing list. Subscribe here.
Find Ultraman merchandise of all sorts on eBay. (Note: this link will give you the results of a search of the term "Ultraman," minus wrestling items. It seems there's a wrestler named "Ultraman," who likes to show up on tapes with wrestling "features" that, in my opinion, are too grotesque to mention.)
