George W. Kane (Bill)

Born October 29, 1922 in Coal Glen, Pa.

Attended Snyder Township schools for 11 years, graduated high school in 1940. Attended night school, college classed while on active duty at Sophia University, Toko, Japan ( a Jesuit school), university of Georgia, Kansas State University and earned a Bachelor of General Education from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Drafted into the U.S.Army December 28, 1942, served for 20 years. Basic training in Antiaircraft (AA) at Ft. Eustis, Va.

Officer candidate school. Commissioned Second Lieutenant August 1943, Camp Davis, NC.

Officers basic course, Ft. Benning, Ga. April 1944

Married Jane Armstrong, Brockport, Pa, April 2, 1944 in Columbus, Ga Intelligence school, Ft. Riley, Ks. April 1946

Officers advanced course, Rt. Benning, Ga. April 1951

Command and general staff college, Ft. Leavenworth, Ks. 1957

Served in Europe during WWII, Infantry company in combat and occupation 1944-1946

Tokyo Japan 1948-1950, occupation duty and assigned to General MacArthur’s honor guard for 13 months.

Taiwan 1953-1954 advising Chinese Nationalist Army.

After leaving active duty earned a Master of Arts in teaching degree at Rollins College, Winter Park, Fl., certified to teach social studies, be a counselor and school administrator.

Served the public school system, orange county, Fl. 23 years, Seventh and eighth grades, Geography and US History.

Junior High School counselor 4 years.

School Administrator 15 years.

We have 3 children, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren.
